Description

Sitting around the table to a bowl of homemade InstantPot Split Pea Soup is one of our favorite ways to warm up during the cooler months.

Scale

Ingredients

  • 5 cups dry split peas

  • 3 jalapeños

  • 10 cups water

  • 1 tbs onion powder

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp oregano

  • 2 tsp thyme

  • 2 bay leaves

  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Dice the jalapeno into 1/8 inch pieces. And then add all of the ingredients into the InstantPot, stirring everything well.

  2. Set the InstantPot to cook for 30 minutes on the manual or “pressure cook” setting.

  3. Allow to naturally release before removing the InstantPot lid.

  4. Stir everything together well and pull out bay leaves.

Notes

If you do not have an InstantPot soup recipe you can always cook this on the stovetop at low medium heat for 3 to 4 hours. And you can cook this in a slow cooker for 8 hours on a low heat setting.
