Vegan Marinara Burger

If you’ve known Dr. Miller and me for any amount of time, you know we don’t have to try very hard to find an excuse to make burgers! Ever since we started eating a plant-based diet, vegan bean burgers have been a constant on our dinner time menu. I personally love how versatile bean burgers can be, which can be seen in action by the numerous versions of bean burger recipes I have put on my website and YouTube. Marinara bean burgers are one of my favorites to make when I have some leftover easy InstantPot marinara sauce after spaghetti night. These burgers can be thrown right on the grill fresh or you can freeze the patties and have them ready to go for your next burger night.

Vegan Marinara Burger

Description

These Vegan Marinara Burgers are a great recipe for grilling up during the heat of the summertime or cool of the winter.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked red beans (drained and rinsed)

  • 1 cup cooked brown rice

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce

  • 2 tbs Italian seasoning

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes


Instructions

  1. Add all of the ingredients into your stand mixer or a large bowl. Mix on a low setting or by hand for 3 to 5 minutes or until the beans have been mashed and incorporated with the rest of the ingredients.
  2. Form into patties
  3. Grill on each side for 3-5 minutes (or until the patties release from the grill).
