I have been on a big rolled oatmeal kick as of lately, which means I have been making my chocolate, banana, peanut butter oatmeal quite a bit. But I recently ran out of old fashioned rolled oats and luckily had some steel cut oats on hand. So I decided I would finally put together and share this recipe.
The first time I made this recipe was this past Fall while my wife and I were on a camping trip in the Shenandoah Valley. Normally when we are camping we only bring one blue camping pot and do all of our cooking on a single propane burner. So in our blue pot, we made what has been now named our banana bread oatmeal.
The key to getting a really good banana bread flavor is to make sure the bananas you use are nice and ripe and let them cook with the oats so that they break down and sweeten up.
If you go ahead and try this recipe, let me know what you think and share a picture on my Instagram and Facebook page of how it turned out!
